Jackie and George's Season

It's hard to believe where this year has gone, this time last year George was Grade 2 and had just qualified for the Agility Club final (July 11, 5 faults on dog walk), in our last outdoor show of the season. He also was in the KC Starters Final at Discover Dogs, he worked well but refused a jump twice in the Agility round to collect 10 faults, we came 4th overall.

April arrived after that long cold winter and weekly one-to-one training sessions with Jeff. Our season started well and after many clear rounds won Grade 2 Agility at Easter Egg Agility, then at Rugby in July won Grade 3 Agility.

Our Grade 4 classes started badly at the KCI with 3 eliminations then 3 rounds each with 5 faults the next day, but he had been to the vets the day before the show as he had helped himself and eaten a lot of chocolate wafer bars, 8, even more naughty spots, I left the cupboard door open!!.

August bank holiday weekend he got his form back at last, and got a 5 faults in the Grade 3-5 Agility, then got his 1st clear in Grade 4 Agility, with only Virginia Harry to go who could beat us, but she missed her weave entry, we had just won Grade 4, and also gained enough agility points to get his Agility Warrant (Silver), my steady George.

Our first Grade 5 show started better than Grade 4 with 3 clear rounds at agility at Southdown’s, coming 2nd in the Medium Pairs with Donna and Twiglet.

We also have done a lot of the local UKA shows and have gone up to senior at steeplechase, without winning a class, as their system is on points. We have 1 more final this year to compete in, the UKA National Finals in December, Tugg n Nuff (agility & jumping for beginner and novice dogs) so fingers crossed that I will handle him better than my other 2 finals this year.

So winter training is here again, dog walk contacts and speed I think!!
